It is important to keep in mind that kids develop reading skills at different rates. When combined with the 40 words on the Dolch list for preschool, that makes a total of 92 words that kindergartners might know. Word cards for all 44 spelling sounds are available and can be great additions to your spelling program and word walls. The Dolch Sight Words list for kindergarten includes 52 frequent words. They are the most common and frequently used words and are foundational words that are used to build a child’s vocabulary.
